Kelly Jill has shot for publications such as Chaos, Vancouver Fashion eZine, String Magazine, XO, Ouch!, IKI, C-Heads, and Bello, and today she's making her debut on Ben Trovato with an exclusive story titled Dollface, featuring model Veronica from Richards International Model Management. Veronica was styled by Vincent Lee, with fashion provided by Aldo, Zara, H&M, Carla Miranda, Anna Kosturova and others. Make up was done by Talysia Ayala using MAC Cosmetics.
The Vancouver based photographer says this about the story: "- Dollface is basically about Veronica. dolled up almost looking like a Barbie doll." And then she adds: "- Usually it’s a face and a moment that inspires me. Regardless of whom I’m taking a photo of. A model, a regular person, a kid... I usually try to get a character or personality into the images, and capture a moment in time. I think it’s the key ingredient to how I create photographs."
She started taking pictures back when her older daughter was about four with the intention of having her husband photograph her and her daughter: "- But instead found myself behind the lens more often, mesmerized at the endless possibilities of capturing moments. I was photographing couples and weddings for a while, until I stumbled upon a shot I took of a couple that looked to me a bit like a fashion photo. That led me to jump into fashion photography, and just completely enjoy the thrill of mixing fashion, expressions/emotions, and imagination - all of which i feel are important in making an image interesting."
