In Bloom by Fiona Garden

"- The fashion and photographic industries already felt like home, so when I got bored of modeling, the next phase of my career evolved quite naturally," says the London based photographer Fiona Garden when describing how she got into the business. The former model explains how she's had a camera in her hand since her first Pentax K-1000 when she was 15, and after having modeled through her teens and early twenties she was already familiar with the ins and outs of the fashion photography world when finally making the jump. Now her work has appeared in publications such as Italian Vogue, Ballad Of, Design Bureau, and Color, and today she's finally making her debut on Ben Trovato. In Bloom by Fiona Garden depicts the classic beauty Jude from Union Models, styled to perfection by Victoria Sekrier with fashion from Vivienne Westwood, Urban Outfitters, Derek Lam and others. Make up was done by Oscar Alexander Lundberg, and hair by Michael John. "- A pop of color and movement, out of the corner of your eye, brightening the city grays," Fiona says while explaining the story, and continues:"- Stylist Victoria Sekrier had a vision for the color pallet and I brought into the frame the use of malleable reflective kaleidoscopes, made by my husband, artist Ben Ashton. Michael John's hair reflected the movement and modernity that we had in mind, and Oscar Alexander's makeup design spoke to the confident burst of color in a soft monochromatic surrounding. I know it sounds so cliché but it really is the team, working together and each doing what they love, that make a story something special." She's inspired by the ways in which light light and dark coexists - the infinite variations: "- and by compulsively capturing those fleeting moments, as proof that they actually happened. I'm also inspired by any really beautiful, elegant photographic work, contemporary or otherwise - the classics of course: Avedon, Demarchelier, Lindbergh, Newton."
