Royal Savage by Kate Daigneault

Based out of Southern California working mostly in San Diego and Los Angeles, Kate Daigneault is looking to make a name for her self in the business. And today she is making her debut on Ben Trovato with the exclusive story titled Royal Savage. Featuring Morgan from Scout Model and Talent, taking the role of a young woman sort left alone in this vast, lonely place. Morgan had hair and make up done by Brooke Hill, and was styled by Kate herself with fashion from American Apparel, GAP, Jeffrey Campbell and others. Kate says this about the story: "- This story, called Royal Savage, was actually inspired by the crowns which I made out of found objects. Its about this young woman sort of left alone in this vast, lonely place. She takes this as an opportunity to become the ruler of this world. I decided to keep the styling pretty simple and use mostly gold and jewel tones to help this out. Morgan was a great model because she is just starting university and in a way starting a similar journey." She finds the works of fellow photographers such as Tim Walker, Gemma Booth and Jamie Nelson, very inspiring, but that's not all: "- I'm inspired by a million things a day! Usually it's a location I happen come upon or some strange prop in one of my favorite thrift stores. It can also be as simple as a color combination or pattern I see in a mundane object. I think my biggest inspiration thus far has been Southern California as a whole, there are so many diverse and amazing natural backdrops here. I really love all the flora and fauna, especially Cacti and Succulents and feel like the whole area has a very retro feel to it, even the brand new bits. " As for the future, Kate's just trying to shoot as much as possible right now, and enjoying what she does: "-I love collaborating with up and coming stylists and make up artists because everyone is just so excited to be doing what they love. I hope to make more connections with designers and magazines and keep working on personal projects. And I don't want to jinx it but I may also be making a big move in the next year which would hopefully open huge doors of opportunity for me."
