Calope has since he moved to Toronto about three years ago tried to separate himself from other fashion photographers by honing a niche style that shows fashion photography with an artistic flare. Since the move he's had his work feature in several online magazines, and today it's his turn to get the exposure on Ben Trovato.
Calope shoots Natasha at Ford in this dark but emotional story titled Coeur Solitaire. Styling was done by Isis Essery, and hair and make up by Katie LeBoutillier. Calope says this about the story: "- There's this girl that I really like but I can't tell her how I feel. It's the 'so near, yet so far' feeling that inspired me to shoot this story. And I do hope the message comes across. I'm just really a hopeless romantic deep down."
His work is influenced by the works of Edward Steichen, Helmut Newton, Guy Bourdin and Ansel Adams. And as for other inspiration: "- Well, it can come from anywhere. From a flower to a song, the rain or a certain feeling."
Being up and coming, he's got a long list of dreams to accomplish for the future: "- Hopefully I'd be able to shoot campaigns for designers who's work I just really love (may they be local here in Toronto, or in Montreal or London, NYC, Italy or Paris). I also would love to get more exposure in Europe and NYC. And hopefully get to shoot editorials for some magazines (Acne Paper, S Magazine, Russh, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue Italia) and be a regular on Ben Trovato!"
